Kabul : Four US soldiers were killed by Afghan insurgents over the weekend, says a Pentagon report.
According to the Department of Defense dispatch reproduced in Kabul three of the military died in an attack to a base in the conflictive southern territory
The release says a military caravan detonated a roadside bomb and was later target of hand grenades and automatic rifle fire and another US soldier died Friday of wounds caused by a bomb while patrolling the southern city.
Unofficial statistics rate June as the deadliest for US soldiers and NATO with 46 of the 113 fatalities reported since January.
In a separate communiqué, the Pentagon reported several rebels dead and one detained in anti-rebel raid Sunday with support from the Air Force.
The operation in Nimroz and Khash Rod District, south west Afghanistan, was to locate a rebel leader involved in several suicide attacks.
