“The return of Lebanese detainees from Israeli jails proves the Lebanese national will to protect their land, sovereignty and independence,” President Suleiman said.

He stressed that the prisoners exchange deal should be a “motive to facilitate a prompt formation of a national unity government.”

The Israeli cabinet agreed Sunday to a deal with Hezbollah that would free five Lebanese prisoners and some Palestinians in exchange for the remains of two Israeli soldiers captured by Hezbollah from the boarder area in 2006, which led to 34 days of devastating war with Israel.

The bodies of the two soldiers will be returned to Israel along with remains of soldiers killed in 2006 war.
