Three policemen killed in attack on US Consulate in Istanbul — official

Istanbul : The death toll in the attack of the US Consulate here earlier Wednesday stands at three policemen, with two others injured, an official said.

Istanbul Governor Muammer Gular told reporters that the three unknown militants in a white car opened fire on the consulate, killing and injuring the five policemen standing guard at the building.

Turkish media reported that three of the four militants were killed in the attack, adding that the “20-25 year old attackers used pomp action shotguns and handguns.”
