Former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, whose government allotted 40 hectares of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) May 26, leading to violence protests in the Kashmir valley, and then took it back July 1, provoking a counter-agitation in Jammu region, will address a meeting in the border town of Akhnoor Sunday.

He will be accompanied by Water Resources Minister and Congress state unit chief Saif-ud-Din Soz.

Congress spokesperson Ravinder Sharma Saturday evening said the two leaders would place all the details of the “conspiracy” against the then Congress government in the state by political forces that had joined hands to cause trouble and topple the government over the land transfer issue.

Azad had quit Monday as he failed to face a trust vote in the assembly, following the withdrawal of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from his government June 28.
