Ahmedabad : The newly-appointed Gujarat state Congress chief Siddharth Patel Monday said that making the party strong at the grassroots level would be his top priority.
In his first interaction with the media after taking over as the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president, Patel outlined a strategy to spruce up party cohesion.
The leaders will not only visit all polling booth areas in the state in the next one month but also take up the task of voters list verification. For this, 450 teams are being set up to accomplish the task, he said.
The Congress will also launch a statewide programme and submit a memorandum against the Narendra Modi government July 28.
Workers will give the memorandum to collectors at the district level. These programmes were chalked out at a meeting Patel had with senior party leaders Monday afternoon.
Parroting an old charge, Patel said whatever developmental programmes are being undertaken in the state are largely due to the central government’s generous help.
But the Bharatiya Janata Party government is misleading the people saying all the money has been coming from its own coffers, Patel said.
