Chandigarh : The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has framed policy guidelines to provide treatment at economical rates to the poor in hospitals that have been granted land at subsidised rates.
“According to the policy, 20 percent of outdoor patients shall be treated free of cost in all such private hospitals which have been provided land by the authority. Ten percent beds shall be reserved for patients from weaker sections and it is mandatory for these hospitals to maintain records of such cases,” HUDA chief administrator T.C. Gupta said Saturday.
Detailed policy guidelines were approved in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda June 11, he said.
The policy will consider any person with a below-poverty-line (BPL) card or a monthly income below Rs.5,000 or any class IV employee of the state government as belonging to the weaker section.
The policy is restricted to the people domiciled in Haryana, added Gupta.
He said super-specialty hospitals shall charge such people at 30 percent of normal rates.
