New Delhi: Nusrat Ali, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has described as shocking the government’s hasty act to approach Supreme Court for staying Delhi High Court Tribunal’s ruling that had lifted the ban on the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Expressing surprise over the government’s attitude to stay tribunal’s order, Nusrat Ali pointed out, “After the independence, in the last 60 years, a number of critical occasions came, when government by taking such ‘swift actions’ could have save minorities’ rights and could provide them justice, but sadly on such occasions neither positive or constructive actions were taken nor even thought about. At present while minorities are worse victims of atrocities and deprivations then government is showing such ‘painful’ attitude,” says a statement.
JIH Secretary General expressed hope that as the Supreme Court had delivered excellent decisions in the past about the rights and protection of minorities, and in this case too the court would foil the government’s ‘unjust plan’ as to meet the requirement of justice.
