Jharkhand to distribute pamphlets to nab top Maoist rebel

Ranchi : The Ranchi police will distribute pamphlets to catch a top Maoist leader allegedly involved in robbery and the killing of a former state minister.

Kundan Pahan is the ‘zonal commander’ of Communist Party of India- Maoist (CPI-Maoist). Pahan is accused of master-minding the killing of former minister and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislator Ramesh Singh Munda last month. He is also said to have been involved in looting Rs.50 million from the delivery van of a private bank.

A cash reward of Rs.500,000 has been announced for any information on the whereabouts of Pahan.

“Help us in catching Kundan Pahan. Your telephone number and name will be kept secret,” says the pamphlet which is being printed by the police.

Kundan Pahan operates in bordering jungles of Ranchi, Khuti and Jamshedpur.

“The pamphlet will be distributed in remote jungle areas where Pahan operates. We will try to mobilize people against Maoist rebels,” a police source told IANS.

Nearly 500 security personnel have been deployed to catch Kundan Pahan.
