“Bringing Arab forces in the frame of resolving the disgraceful situation in Gaza to end the coup is a possible and viable idea,” said Fatah spokesman Fehmi al-Za’arier, adding “Fatah is open to any proposal to end the coup.”

But Hamas has rejected the idea of sending any Arab or foreign forces to the Gaza Strip which it seized last year after driving out Fatah and pro-Abbas forces in fierce fighting.

Recently, Hamas cranked up the crackdown against Fatah supporters in Gaza following a beachside attack which killed a girl and five Hamas men. Hamas blamed Fatah for being behind the attack.

The Fatah-dominated Palestinian National Authority’s (PNA) forces then responded by arresting in Hamas supporters West Bank.
