Reacting angrily to the comments of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leaders that she was faking a firing on her car, Banerjee said: "Let the CBI probe the matter to find out the truth. There was firing from a house on us and the bullet was of .303, which is used by the cops."

By IANS Agra : The government is considering a proposal to recruit nearly 7,000 judges to help clear the backlog of pending cases in various courts, said union Law Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj here. "These judges will be appointed right till the block level. Those seeking justice will not come to the courts but the judges will go to them," Bhardwaj told reporters Friday on the sidelines of 10th meeting of Parliament's Consultative Committee on Hindi. Bhardwaj said the follow-up on the rural courts legislation will be completed before mid-2008.
