Baghdad : The Iraqi Parliament has rejected a recent US Senate resolution stipulating the division of Iraq into racial and sectarian entities.
Sheikh Khaled Al-Attiah, the deputy speaker, said during the session Wednesday that the US resolution “was an unprecedented development in the history of international relations and constituted a flagrant intervention in the internal affairs of Iraq and a breach of its sovereignty.”
“The Iraqi people emphatically reject any external scheme that may harm their unity,” he said during the session where the majority of the members voted in favour of a statement, rejecting the US decision.
