Tehran : President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discussed the latest developments on Iraq-Turkey border in separate telephone conversations with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki Saturday night.
The two sides underlined the necessity of continuation of consultations on the current situation in Iraqi border areas.
“Terrorists are not friends of any of regional states including Iran, Turkey and Iraq,” stressed both sides.
Earlier in the day, President Ahmadinejad was informed in a telephone call by Turkish President Abdullah Gul of developments in the border areas of Iraq and and its northern neighboring state, Turkey.
The two presidents underlined the necessity of maintaining unity and integrity of Iraq.
Moreover, the Iraqi president expressed hope that an upcoming meeting on Iraq, due to be held in Istanbul next week with Iran’s participation, would “bring fruitful results for resolving existing problems.”
