Baghdad : Iraqi Foreign Minister Hushyar Zebari, in meeting with Iran’s visiting deputy foreign minister here Saturday, has thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its participation in a meeting of Iraq’s neighboring countries.
Zebari said Iran’s decision shows that it is serious in resolving Iraq’s problems adding that Iran’s policies towards Iraq, during the years of invasion, have always been supporting the democratization of Iraq.
Meeting of deputy foreign ministers of Iraq’s neighbors will be held in Baghdad on Sunday.
Zebari also expressed hope that Iran’s consulates in Erbil and Suleymaniye would be opened in very near future.
On the borders security, Zebari suggested that a committee comprising of both countries forces be set up to constantly check the issue.
