Islamabad : Former caretaker Federal Minister and human rights activist Ansar Burney is leaving for India to seek release of Pakistani nationals held in Indian jails, officials said.
Burney has elected unopposed to UN Human Right Council’s Advisory Committee.
He has been invited to India by Chief Minister of India’s Punjab state Sardar Parkash Singh Badal to pay an official visit.
Burney said there are as many as 46 Pakistani prisoners alone in Indian Punjab jails alone that had completed their jail term but not released.
