Freedom fighter Abdul Quayum Ansari remembered

Patna: Late Abdul Quayum Ansari, one of great freedom fighters and former general secretary, Anjuman Taraqui-e-Urdu Bihar, was remembered in a seminar in Patna on 13th April.

Inaugurating the seminar organized by Anjuman Taraqui-e-Urdu Bihar on Ansari’s life and services at Government Urdu Library, Dr Jagannath Mishra, former chief minister of Bihar, said Abdul Quayum Ansari was a great revolutionary leader and played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle. He got a company of veteran leaders like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He lamented that new generation had forgot his mission.

RP Mishra, vice chancellor, Jai Prakash University (Chapra) who shared the honour of chief guest with Saleem Pervez, vice president, Bihar Athletics Association, said beside representing downtrodden section of the society Ansari used to take part in social work without any distinction of caste, creed and religion.

On the occasion, an award ceremony was also held. Along with RP Mishra and Saleem Pervez, several journalists and social workers were given Abdul Quayum Ansari Award for their extraordinary service in the field of Urdu journalism, Urdu language and literature and other social work. They included Faizan Azizi (Quami Tanzeem), Ghulam Asdaque (Rashtriya Sahara) and Nasim Ahmad (Pindar).
