They urged Tel Aviv regime to lift the economic blockade on Gaza Strip following Hamas overrun the area last.

Israel has imposed restrictions on deliveries of essential supplies to Gaza.

The UN agencies called on Israel to restore full fuel deliveries to the region, stressing that the existing conditions in Gaza Strip would put the health condition of Gazans at risk seriously.

“The current situation is a threat to the health and well-being of the population of the Gaza Strip, 56 percent of whom are children.

The work of the UN organizations in Gaza has been severely hampered affecting schools, health facilities, and food distribution.

“UN humanitarian and development agencies working in the Palestine territory are gravely concerned about the limited fuel supplies in the Gaza Strip which have a severe impact upon daily life for the population and UN operations,” the statement said.

“The shutdown of fuel and petrol stations means that normal transportation has come to virtual stop, many students have been unable to get to school and many health professionals have been unable to get to hospitals and clinics.

“There have been difficulties transporting essential items such as food throughout Gaza.”

The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace, The United Nations Relief and Works Agencies for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the World Food Organization (WFO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) were among the signatories of the joint statement.

The agencies also called for “a cessation of all acts of violence” in Gaza Strip.
