Kathmandu : Nepali Ministry of Education and Sports is all set to launch a door-to-door campaign from April27 to May 7 to increase the enrollment of students at the primary level, The Himalayan Times daily reported on Friday.
According to the newspaper, the ministry campaign to get more students in the schools is a part of the government’s initiative to ensure education for all.
The school admissions opened Thursday and will last till April 25 and the ministry plans to launch the door-to-door campaign from April 27 to ensure that the children who were left out of the schools during the admission period will be enrolled in the school, said Shanker Pandey, secretary of the ministry, at a press conference Thursday.
Locals, local teachers, schools, school management committee members and stakeholders will actively participate in the door-to-door campaign, he said, adding that all logistics required for this campaign have already reached different parts of the country.
Data reveals that 10 percent of the 3.2 million school-going children are out of schools.
The ministry has also launched alternative education program to ensure that the over-age children get promotions in their required grades.
The ministry has made provision of grouping the over-age students in different groups and providing them with special classes.
