Brussels : The European Parliament (EP) asked on Friday to be briefed on the latest negotiations regarding the Free trade agreement (FTA) between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which began in 1988.
The President of EP’s international Trade Committee Helmuth Markov also called for a specific dateline on when such agreement to be signed.
Markov also called for providing the committee with current costums procedures on items and services regarding chemical elements, energy, communication and food supplies which are not eligible for costum procedures.
The MEP further stressed importance on the need to be briefed on investment opportunities and human rights procedures, including labor rights, foreign workforce data, and the environment.
The European Parliament is set to discuss the issue in its upcoming session next Tuesday all queries by the President of the Trade Committee.
