Kuwait : Many questions about campaigning for the parliamentary elections are being posed by Arab and foreign journalists and media people currently in Kuwait to cover activities of the Fourth World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).
The forum will be inaugurated later Tuesday under the auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Many of the journalists are making use of their presence in Kuwait to file stories on the elections and sending them along with their daily reports on the forum, thus exploring the country’s democratic experience and its political activities.
Some 100 foreign journalists and correspondents are in Kuwait to cover the WIEF, alongside 200 from Kuwait.
During breaks, journalists take the opportunity to ask their Kuwaiti counterparts about the country’s political system, the predicted outcomes of the elections, and the hot topics debated by candidates, and discussions often end with an invitation to attend one of the campaigning headquarters.
Meanwhile, Arab journalists who often visit Kuwait were surprised at the large number of local newspapers that are now in circulation.
