Brussels : The President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering, and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, who is the current president of the European Council will meet European Muslim, Christian, and Jewish religious leaders in Brussels on Monday.
They will discuss climate change and reconciliation, EC spokesperson Johannes Laitenberger told reporters here today. He said such inter-faith meetings with EU leaders have taken place regularly since 2005.
Monday’s meeting is taking place within the European year of intercultural dialogue and also inter-religious dialogue.
Among the invitees representing Muslim communities in Europe are President of the National Federation of Muslims in France Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Imam Abduljalil Sajid of the Muslim Council for Religious and Racial Harmony in the UK, Reis-Ulema and Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina Shaykh Dr. Mustafa Ceri?, and Director of the Islamic Centre in England Aayatullah Abdolhossein Moezi.
