“They are not criminals, they are heroes. They have never regretted the mission they took over 10 years ago when entering Miami to infiltrate terrorist groups with the aim of saving lives and impeding a confrontation between Washington and Havana,” the coordinator of the National Committee to Free the Five in that northern nation stated.

In the opening ceremony presenting a billboard demanding the release of the Five in the US city of San Francisco, the activist recalled that the case of Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez is still ignored in her country due to the wall of silence the media has built.

The aim of the poster, according to a note published by Juventud Rebelde newspaper, is to demand the immediate freedom of the Five, as they are universally known.

The sign was made possible with the contribution of Cuba solidarity committees in Italy, France, England, Germany, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Canada and US citizens, La Riva said.

That initiative is part of the information campaign undertaken by the National Committee to Free the Five in the United States , to reveal the case in that northern nation and break media silence.

Cindy Sheehan, outstanding US activist against the war after her son Casey died in Iraq, advocated for ending the economic, financial and trade blockade imposed by Washington on the island.
