Madhya Pradesh announces reward for Bindra

Bhopal : The Madhya Pradesh government declared a cash prize of Rs.500,000 for shooter Abhinav Bindra who won the first individual Olympics gold medal for India Monday.

“Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also congratulated the Chandigarh-based shooter for creating history by winning gold medal in the 100-metre air rifle event and announced the reward for Bindra who is a recipient of the country’s highest sports award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna,” an official statement said.

Bindra’s historic feat would inspire other sportspersons of the country, Chouhan said in his congratulatory message to the gold medallist.
