Tehran : A member of Japan’s Parliament, Professor Akiko Yamanaka said here after visiting Iran’s Rouyan Institute it is time for Iran to tell world nations on advanced genetic engineering activities taking place here.
Professor Yamanaka who was accompanied by his country’s charge d’affaires in Tehran during the visit got informed about the various scientific activities pursued at the center, praised the high level of them, and encouraged the institute’s officials to propagate at the international scene.
The Japanese MP added in his exclusive interview with IRNA, “It is also necessary for Rouyan Institute to establish broader ties with other scientific institutes in genetic engineering field around the globe.”
Ms. Yamanaka who is the head of LDP party’s women’s branch and a peace activist, said, “The presence of a large number of female scientists and technicians at this institute is very interesting.” She added, “The more important matter is that at this center not only very advanced scientific activities are conducted, but also the results of such research works are actually taken advantage of at the service of the society.”
The sections of Rouyan Institute visited on Wednesday included its Belly Button Cord Blood Bank, Fundamental Cells Section, Advanced Infertility Treatment Methods Ward, Research Section on Taking Advantage of Fundamental Cells in Curing Heart and Eye Diseases, Implanting Therapy Ward, and institute’s expert level periodicals publication center.
Ms. Yamanaka arrived in Iran on Tuesday as a guest of the Women’s and Family Affairs Center of the President’s Office.
She has so far also met with the head of that center, as well as a number of Iranian female parliament members and professors of Tehran University and Az-Zahra University.
