India to launch biggest war games next month after 2004 exercises

New Delhi : India plans to hold the biggest exercises next month in Rajasthan after its armed forces ‘Operation Desert Strike’ in 2004-05.

In view of its close proximity to Pakistan, Islamabad will be informed about it. Diplomats will also be invited to witness the exercises, media reports said.

Indian Army’s frontline T-90 tanks, SMERCH long-range rocket missiles, spy drones and latest Air Defence Gun and missile systems will participate in the exercises while frontline Sukhoi-30’s, Mig-27 and upgraded Mig-21 bisons will also be pressed into action in the war games.

The Indian forces will hold a special ‘ Fire and Manouvre’ display on March 19, for a large number of foreign dignitaries and defence attaches of “friendly” countries.

A strong Chinese military observer group will also witness the exercises, media reports added.
