Dhamar (Yemen) : The US Liverpool Institute in California is willing to help Yemen in implementing various scientific studies that contribute to reducing earthquake risks.
This was decided during a meeting between Deputy of Dhamar governor Yahia al-Shaif and Earthquake Science Group at the Liverpool Institute here on Wednesday.
They discussed aspects of cooperation between Yemeni Center of Monitoring and Studying Earthquakes and the US Liverpool Institute as well as exchanging experiences and information between them.
The talks also dealt with preparations to hold the 5th Gulf Forum over Earthquakes to be hosted by Yemen on April 6-9, reviewing the center’s activities on monitoring and studying earthquakes in Dhamar and the implementation of various scientific studies that contribute to reducing earthquake risks.
Deputy Governor affirmed the importance of developing and strengthening areas of cooperation to benefit from American expertise in this regard.
For his part, the American delegation affirmed the necessities of activating role of media corporation in raising awareness and educating the community on the dangers of natural disasters to alleviate the human and material losses.
The institute affirmed its readiness to support training and qualifying cadre and offer technical assistance for the center in the country and the exchange of information and experiences.
