Asif Ali Zardari told a news conference that he had talked to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed the future plan.

The PPP has secured 85 National Assembly seats of 268 general seats on which elections were held on Monday.

Sharif’s Muslim League-N has secured 65 seats and placed second in the number game.

“I have talked to Nawaz Sharif. We will form government along with them,” Zardari told a news conference in Islamabad.

He said that Nawaz Sharif did not put any condition for the future cooperation.

“We will put a condition that the new government would back our demand for UN inquiry into the assassination of our leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” he said.

He said he will again talk to Nawaz Sharif again in the couple of days and will also talk to the Awami National Party, which has bagged 8 National Assembly seats.

Zardari ruled out any cooperation with those who were ‘part and parcel’ of the previous set up.

To a question about the restoration of the sacked judges, the PPP leader said it would be decided by the parliament.

Zardari chaired high level meeting of the party leaders to discuss the government formation.

“We will take the people with us.

He said that his party has accepted the results of the general elections 2008.

“Though this is not a pleasant time for us, as our leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated, but still we are content that we have won the elections,” Zardari said.

To a question about operation in Swat valley, he said he will make decision after consulting allies.

He said that 27 activists of PPP were killed and 300 injured on polling day while 100 polling agents kidnapped only in Sindh province.

Zardari said the party leader was assassinated and hurdles were created to stop PPP from elections but ‘we followed Mohtarma’s instructions.

The masses have rejected the Q league and now the party is saying that it has faced defeat due to President Musharraf’s policies, the PPP leader said.
