Buenos Aires : The Arab League and South America on Thursday rejected the accountability act imposed by the United States against Syria, as an action that falls in violation of the principles of the international law.
A final declaration to be made at the end of the two day meetings between the Foreign Ministers of the Arab regions and the South America later in the day, said the action would set a serious precedent as regard dealing with independent states.
The US Administration imposed the Syria accountability act, a type of sanctions, as a punishment against Damascus for what Washington termed as Syrias support for terrorism. The foreign Ministers said they consider that the so-called Syria Accountability Act violates principles of international law and constitutes a violation of the objectives and principles of the UN Charter.
Syria has repeatedly denied the US charges that it was supporting terrorist organization, and said it shares the world view in rejecting all forms of terrorism.
The declaration, made available to KUNA, said the two regions reject all of forms of terrorism, and reiterated commitment to cooperate in the fight against terrorism through the exchange of information.
