United Nations, Jan 5 (Prensa Latina) UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that climate change, and improving the conditions of poor countries as much as possible are among the organization”s top priorities for 2008, sources from the UN headquarters in New York informed Saturday.
Preventive diplomacy, peacekeeping operations, and internal reforms were other of the tasks Ban mentioned.
“These challenges might seem discouraging due to their high proportions, but let me remind you that there huge expectations on us,” the UN chief said Friday when meeting with the UN staff in New York.
Ban Ki-moon also pointed out the world recognizes the “indispensable character” of the organization, and sustained “the peoples are looking forward to our solutions for world problems.”
