Jakarta : A 6.2 Richter earthquake shook Indonesia at the height of the Nias Islands, off the western coast of Sumatra on Wednesday, leaving one person dead and four seriously injured.
The quake, the third in less than 48 hours, killed an 11-year-old child when the roof of a military dormitory fell down, police sources from the north district of Nias reported.
Police spokespersons added there was no major material damage.
The Nias Islands were devastated by an 8.7 magnitude earthquake in 2005, with the loss of 850 lives and home loss for tens of thousands of people.
On Monday another earthquake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, struck the Maluku Islands, east of Indonesia.
