Islamabad : Dozens of university students Wednesday here held protest demonstration against the detention of country’s nuclear scientist, Dr. A.Q. Khan, accused of transferring nuclear technology to Libya, Iran and North Korea.
Students of Urdu university carrying placards and chanting anti-government slogans demanded the end of Khan detention and also restoration to the titles he was honored after Pakistan went nuclear in 1990s.
Dr. Khan had been under detention since 2003 after he confessed his crime of nuclear technology to other countries. Though, he was pardoned but put under house arrest.
However, the newly installed civilian government of Pakistan has relaxed restrictions on him and allowed him to meet media and relatives.
