New Delhi : Bhutan is looking forward to expand areas and dimensions of cooperation to further deepen ties with India, said visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister.
“This will come up for discussion during the meeting with the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh Wednesday evening”, said Bhutan’s Prime Minister L J Y Thinley while speaking to media after a ceremonial reception accorded to him at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidential Palace) this morning.
The Bhutan Prime Minister said they will be deliberating on how to further their cooperation not only to promote development in his country but which is beneficial for both sides.
Describing India as closest friend, dependable and trusted ally and most generous country for assisting Bhutan in its development efforts, Thinley said that he has come to express his gratitude.
Cooperation in Hydro Power, Health and Tourism and other areas is expected to figure in the talks.
Thinley accompanied by a high level delegation arrived in the capital on Monday on a four-day visit to India.
He will call on the President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, the Vice President. Mohd. Hamid Ansari and the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in the afternoon.
The External Affairs Minster Pranab Mukerjee and the Leader of opposition L K Advani and the Home Minister Shivraj Patil are also meeting him today.
Earlier, on Tuesday Bhutan’s PM met Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Tourism Minister Ambika Soni, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, and Industry Minister Kamal Nath.
During the meetings, both sides held discussions related to hydro power, tourism sectors, health sector and felt that there is huge potential for increasing the bilateral trade.
