Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates and the Egypt have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries and on reciprocal waiver of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic passports and the special mission passports.
The MoUs were signed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, and Ahmed Abul Ghait, Egypt’s Foreign Minister.
The MoU on political consultations provides for regular bilateral talks to discuss relations and to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
According to the MoU, the consultations shall take place in Abu Dhabi and Cairo, or in a third country on the sidelines of an international conference or a meeting attended by both parties.
The non-binding MoU went into effect from the date of its signing. It shall be valid for two years and renewed automatically for a similar period.
The MoU on reciprocal waiver of visa requirement enables diplomatic passport holders to enter, transit and exit from the territory of each other’s country and allow them to stay in each other’s territory for a maximum period of 90 days without a visa.
The MoU shall be effective 30 days after its signing and shall be valid for an unlimited period.
