Gaza : Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad is expected to meet here on Wednesday with Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak to discuss escalating Israeli attacks in the West Bank since the declaration of the truce between the two sides in the Gaza Strip, according to Voice of Palestine.
Meanwhile, Israeli radio stated that a security meeting was held here Tuesday evening grouping Israeli and Palestinian officials to talk about the situation in Nablus city following recent Israeli military operations there.
The radio added that the Israeli side was represented by Major General Gadi Sh’mani, commander of the central command, and head of the civil administration Major General Yoaf Mirdakhi. On the Palestinian side were head of the Civil Affairs Department Hussein Ash-Sheikh, Palestinian president advisor Hekman Zaid, and Nablus Governor Jamal Muheissen.
According to the security forces in Nablus city, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned Israel Tuesday against continuing its incursions into the city, which witnessed several operations recently.
The Israeli radio added that Israel informed the Palestinian Authority at Tuesday night’s meeting that it was ready to release 24 Palestinians.
