During his stay here, according to defense ministry sources, the US military chief will hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart, army chief General Ashfaq Kayani and other senior military officials.

He is also likely to meet with President Pervez Musharraf, sources told KUNA. They said security and counter-terrorism related issues will be the focus of his discussion with Pakistani officials.

His visit comes a day after a suicide attack targeting the Danish embassy here killed at least eight persons and wounded 24 others.

Sources said the US chief would also be holding discussions on peace negotiations with Pakistani officials. The US has expressed concerns over Islamabads new government peace talks with local Taliban militants, which it says will lead to further rise in cross-border attacks in the neighboring war-ravaged Afghanistan.
