Madrid : Spanish police arrested 20 Russians suspected of being involved in organized crime and money laundering in a joint operation involving Russian, U.S., German and Swiss law enforcement bodies, Spanish media said.
Police said the suspects, believed to be members of the so called Tambov organized crime group involved in laundering the proceeds from organized crime, were arrested Friday in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Malaga, Valencia and the Balearic Islands.
During the raids, involving around 400 law enforcement officers, police seized 23 luxury cars, over 200,000 euros in cash, a yacht, weapons and a number of artworks.
Spanish authorities have also frozen around 12 million euros held in the bank accounts.
