Islamabad : Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf will not attend the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) summit scheduled to be held this month in Senegal, according to media reports Wednesday.
Caretaker Foreign Minister Inaam-ul-Haq will represent the country at the 11th summit to be held in Dakar March 13-14, Geo TV said.
Sources in the presidential office said Musharraf would not attend the summit because of the situation at home related to the post-election government formation.
The Pakistan Peoples Party emerged as the single largest party after the Feb 18 general elections and will form a coalition government with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Musharraf was sworn in as a civilian president last November after relinquishing his military uniform.
