The oath was administered by Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain.

Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain earlier told the house the newly elected members would take oath under the third Schedule of the 1973 Constitution.

Responding to a point of order from the PPP member Syed Naveed Qamar, the Speaker said that the oath in the third schedule is the same as it was in the third schedule of the 1973 Constitution.

Syed Naveed Qamar had sought a clarification from the Chair whether the members would be administered oath under the 1973 Constitution.

He added that the oath in the third schedule is the same for the President, the Prime Minister, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, Ministers and the members.

“It is the same oath as in the third schedule of 1973
Constitution,” the Speaker said.

Syed Naveed Qamar said earlier that the members would not be taking oath under the Constitution amended after November 02, 2007 .

The Speaker said under the rules, members cannot speak in the House without taking oath.

However, “I give you floor by using my inherent powers and the point you will raise will not be part of the record.”
