New Delhi : Bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and Fielding coach Robin Singh will continue to with the Indian cricket team in the three-match Test series against South Africa, starting in Chennai on March 26.
In view of their tremendous work in the past few months, Prasad and Singh have been retained and they will be part of new coach Gary Kirsten’s support staff, the Board of Control for Cricket India announced Tuesday.
The six-member support staff has been named only for the series against South Africa.
Kirsten, who has formally taken over as the coach of the team from March 1, will have Paddy Upton as “Physical and mental conditioning and strategic Leadership coach” of the team.
Kirsten was keen on hiring Upton who is his schoolmate and works as mental conditioning coach at his academy in Cape Town.
Upton was the fitness trainer with the South African cricket team between 1994 and 1998.
A full time physiotherapist for the team will be appointed by the end of April, the release said.
