The maximum temperature in the national capital Thursday was around 34 degrees Celsius, continuing the region’s spell of pleasant weather. But what is more worrying for the residents is the increase in the day’s low at around 20 degrees Celsius, a jump of nearly four degrees above normal.

The Met Office on its website said most parts of northwest and northern plains saw temperatures four to six degrees Celsius above normal, suggesting the advent of the summer eaelier than normal.

The maximum and minimum temperatures could rise by around 1-3 degrees Celsius in the next couple of days from Thursday, the Met Office said.

The heavy showers in the southern peninsula abated somewhat but isolated pockets of the peninsula received some rain. The southern cyber capital city of Bangalore recorded 18.0 mm of rain while Hyderabad had just 5 mm.

The Met Office has forecast that northeastern parts of the country could get more rain in the coming days till Sunday. Most parts of the country would have dry weather.
