Al-Mutair, speaking at his electoral seminar late on Monday, blamed the government for delay of implementation of development schemes, and praised the latest parliament, saying this assembly accomlished as much as triple the volume of work done by previous assemblies. The parliamentary committees of this assembly held a record number of meetings and spent too much time on deliberating bills.

The dissolved assembly engineered many bills such as classification of the act of offering alcohol as a criminal offense, approval of laws on protection of public funds and enacting alms regulations.

This constituency groups 13 districts with an electorate of 41,365 souls including 22,103 women.

Bou Reden, for his part, assailed the former 25-constituency regime and charged that it was intended to tighten the government control on the assembly.

The new system of five constituencies will limit primary and sectarian polls, he said.

The third constituency groups 15 neighborhoods. Number of eligible votes stands at 58,674, including 33,056 females.
