Baghdad : The US air force killed five and wounded 8 in an attack to a residential area in southeastern Baghdad, reported police sources.
“The United States army carried out the air raid against Al Amil town at about 01:00 local hour,” declared an agent who wanted to remain anonymous.
According to a police version the action took place against alleged rebel positions in three areas, killing five civilians, including a father, mother and son of the same family.
The air raid completely destroyed houses and seriously damaged other close buildings.
Those victims join another five who died due to US bombing of other residential areas in the capital.
The US military command was typically hushed about the air operation against Al Amil, a residential development of the Muslim Shiite denomination Community.
However the US command circulated a communique to inform about the death of five alleged members of Mahdi Army loyal to Muslim Shiite cleric Moqtada al Sader.
