London : Paramedics who attended the scene where two young brothers were found dead alongside their badly burnt Indian-born father in the Scottish city of Glasgow are said to be traumatised.
Paul and Jay Ross, aged six and two, were found dead in their father Ashok Kalyanjee’s car in a quiet lane in Glasgow’s Lennoxtown neighbourhood Saturday.
Kalyanjee, who is separated from the boys’ mother but had weekend visiting rights, is in hospital with severe burn injuries, with police standing by to question him.
Local newspapers said two emergency medical crews, who were first on the scene, came across a blazing car with the two boys slumped on the back seat with their throats slashed.
The paramedics, three men and a woman, were so traumatised they had to go home and have been off work with stress, the Glasgow Daily Recorder quoted ambulance service sources as saying.
A source added: “What the crews saw that day, no human being should be forced to witness.
“The image of those two boys lying dead in the back seat will haunt them for the rest of their days. Those two wee innocent faces were looking up at them.
“It was like something out of a horror movie.
“We see a lot of death in our job but this was worse than anyone should have to witness in the line of duty.
“When they arrived, the car was on fire and the dad doused himself with petrol and set himself on fire.
“They saw the two wee boys in the back with their throats cut and they had other stab wounds.
“We are not talking about rookies – they have years of experience and have seen some horrific things but nothing compares to this.”
No one has been charged with the boys’ murder yet, but their mother Giselle Ross said in a brief statement Sunday that “Paul wasn’t even allowed to play outside in case he came to any harm”.
