The CA was to meet at 11 a.m. (0515 GMT), but the meeting was postponed after the three major parties locked horns over the powers of ceremonial president and the nomination of 26 members to the assembly among other issues.

According to a report of the leading local website THT Online, the time was shifted to 3 p.m. (0715 GMT), but reports coming from Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala’s residence, where the deliberations are taking place, said that the whole process would be delayed again with parties still not coming to an agreement.

The CA meeting is expected to formally declare the implementation of a federal democratic republic in the country, ending the 240-year institution of Shah Monarchy.
