Baghdad : At least 12 people were killed and some 60 others wounded in car bomb and bomb explosions in eastern Baghdad on Wednesday, an Interior Ministry source said.
A booby trapped car detonated around sunset near a police patrol in the Shiite neighborhood of Baghdad al-Jadida, or new Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Minutes later, a roadside bomb went off when security forces and civilians gathered to examine the first blast, the source said.
Ambulances and civilian cars transferred victims to several hospitals in the capital.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry source said that at least four people were killed and six others wounded in the car bomb and bomb explosions in eastern Baghdad.
Despite the security gains in recent months in Iraq, there are still sporadic bombings, which shape setback to the Iraqi government.
