“This attack, which comes after the deaths of four Spanish and British soldiers from the International Assistance and Security Force, caused the death of an American solider who belonged to the targeted military convoy and also caused ten deaths and wounded seventy-seven among the Afghan civilian population present at the site,” a statement from the Presidency said.

“The Presidency of the European Union condemns this suicide car bombing with the greatest firmness and addresses condolences to the victims and sympathy to the wounded,” the statement said.

The EU also expressed “solidarity with the Afghan, Spanish, British and American authorities.”
