EU parliamentary delegation in Mumbai safe

Brussels : A delegation of 13 European Parliament (EP) representatives who were caught in the terror attacks in Mumbai are safe and will return home soon, EUAsia News reported Thursday.

EP president Hans-Gert Poettering said he was in touch with the French consulate in Mumbai, which was arranging for the return of the delegation members.

France is the current president of the European Union.

The delegation was in Mumbai as part of the EP International Trade Committee.

Poettering strongly condemned “the tragic multiple terrorist attacks” and said such crimes must be strongly resisted and stopped.

“Fighting terrorism must remain a key political priority for the international community. It is a global problem and a challenge for everyone. We must use all the resources that the rule of law places at our disposal to defeaat terrorism together once and for all,” he said.
