New Delhi : Olympic medal winners Abhinav Bindra, Sushil Kumar and Vijender Singh were awarded cash prizes by Union Sports minster M.S. Gill here Thursday.
Shooter Bindra, who became India’s first individual Olympic gold winner, received Rs.5 million while Kumar and Singh got Rs.2 million each for their splendid performance at the Beijing Games.
Bindra won the gold in the men’s 10 metres air-rifle event while boxer Singh won the bronze, India’s first in boxing, in the middle-weight category. Kumar won a bronze in free-style wrestling.
