By NNN-WAFA,
Gaza Strip : The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) announced that they will soon re-establish their presence in the Gaza Strip to support non-violent direct action against the Israeli Occupation.
ISM activists will reside in the city of Rafah, but they did not determine a specific date.
This was made possible after activists from the Free Gaza Movement broke the siege on Gaza in their successful attempt to sail there from Cyprus. A number of ISM activists decided, as a result, to remain in the Gaza Strip and re-activate an international presence there to support non-violent direct action aimed at breaking the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.
Since Israelis murdered international activists Tom Hurndall and Rachel Corrie in 2003, the ability of internationals to enter Gaza has been severely restricted.
ISM has an action plan for its presence in Gaza. The group said that they will accompany Palestinian fishermen, as they seek to make their living in the sea, and document Israeli acts of aggression towards the Palestinian fishing boats.
They also said that they will support Palestinian farmers’ direct action to reclaim their lands within the buffer-zone along the green line.
ISM will, moreover, support non-violent demonstrations reclaiming the Palestinians’ freedom of movement, restricted by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).
Finally, ISM will report human stories from Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip under the Israeli Occupation and Siege.
