Metropolitan magistrate Pritam Singh allowed the police plea that the custodial interrogation of Arora was required to unravel the case.

The recovery of firearm used in the murder and the arrest of other accused are yet to take place, the police said, adding that they have also recorded Arora’s statement.

Ankit Minocha, a 22-year-old businessman was shot dead while one of his friends was injured Feb 22 when Arora and others allegedly opened fire at them near Buddha Jayanti Park in the southern Ridge area of central Delhi around 1.30 p.m. Sunday.

Minocha and seven others had accompanied their friend Mahender to Karol Bagh to meet car dealers Pushkar and Sushil Arora who were not returning Rs.1 million they had borrowed from Mahender, the police said.

Mahender and his friends had an argument with the car dealers, the police said.

The car dealers allegedly followed them back and opened fire at Minocha’s car as they stopped near the park. Minocha was hit by two bullets – one on his head and another on his back.

Surender, another passenger, was also hit by a bullet on his back, the police said.
