DLF to stay as IPL title sponsor

Mumbai : Amidst the economic downturn, India’s real estate major DLF Wednesday said it was committed to stay on as the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the term of five year.

“Our commitment towards the DLF Indian Premier League remains resolute and long term, given the immense synergies involved. We will continue to support the league that has ushered in a unique new era of cricket and entertainment for a global audience,” Rajeev Talwar, group executive director of DLF Limited, said in a statement.

Talwar also hoped the second edition starting from April 10 will be a bigger success than the inaugural edition.

IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi said DLF’s association will help the league become a world class affair.

“The DLF Indian Premier League is here to stay and has already carved out a distinct niche for itself in the international cricketing calendar. I am happy that India’s largest real estate company, DLF will continue to play an integral part in helping develop the league into a truly world – class platform for showcasing and developing cricketing talent globally,” he said.
